Legislative Resolution 13 (LR-13) passed by Nebraska Unicameral
LR-13 . Senator Dave Murman’s LR-13 Imitation Milk Labeling Resolution was passed by the Nebraska Unicameral on Thursday May 30th sending a strong message to Washington that the FDA needs to enforce the laws in place around the proper labeling of milk and dairy products. The passage of LR-13 comes at perfect timing as the NSDA prepares for the upcoming trip to Washington D.C. for the Nebraska Department of Agriculture D.C. Forum, allowing us to personally hand deliver the resolution to our federal delegation to drive home the point that Nebraskans want action. Please reach out to your representatives in congress to tell them that you support reform on proper labeling of imitation milk beverages and that LR-13 is Nebraska’s message to the FDA to take action. You can view the bill and the amendments to it here, as well as a recorded vote count. LR-13 also received some national attention from our friends at National Milk Producers Federation when they shared a series of tweets recognizing and congratulating the Nebraska Legislature and Nebraska Dairy Farmers on LR-13’s passage.  Please Join me in thanking Senator Dave Murman for introducing LR-13 and working diligently to get it across the finish line, email Senator Murman at dmurman@leg.ne.gov .
