2017 Dairy Day at the Capitol
Nebraska State Dairy Association has scheduled Dairy Day at the Capitol for January 31, 2017, with opportunities for meeting and having conversations with legislators of issues of importance to dairy. The day is planned for participants to arrive at the State Capitol about 10:00 am, and spend the morning visiting your Senator’s office, and pass out dairy materials to all Senators.  There will be time to observe the activity on the Legislative floor prior to the annual pizza buffet open to all Senators and their staffs.  The Governor and Lt. Governor will be invited to join us for lunch.  Participants can also sit in on an Ag or other committee hearing and the NSDA Board will conclude the day with a board meeting which will discuss issues to be brought before the membership during the Annual Meeting on February 21st.   For more information or to let us know you will be attending, call Rod at 402-853-2028 or email rod@nebraskamilk.org

NSDA Update

  • 2017 NSDA convention is February 21 in Columbus, NE at the Ramada Hotel and Conference Center.
  • As we look forward to 2017, we will be watching activity at the Nebraska Legislature as it affects the dairy industry.  The NSDA has been participating in the Ag Leaders Working Group, studying the current situation with property taxes and working to develop solutions.  Watch for follow up information on this as we move into January.
  • I would like to remind everyone that entries for the Milk Production Awards were  recently mailed out and due back postmarked by December 31.  Awards will be passed out during the State Convention.
  • We are also encouraging nominations for the dairy producer and dairy service awards.  If you have someone you feel needs to be recognized for their contribution to the Nebraska Dairy industry, please submit their names.
