Brooke Engelman from Classic Dairy and Rod Johnson, NSDA executive director, present a check for $1,250 to Scott Young of the Food Bank of Lincoln for the Great American Milk Drive.  This money was raised at the 2017 annual dairy convention.
Risks with Heavy Manure Applications
There are situations where applying a heavy dose of manure before planting alfalfa may not Bruce Anderson picturebe a good idea. When applying a heavy dose of manure, site selection is critical.  These heavy doses contain a lot of nitrogen and phosphate along with many other nutrients.  That’s fine, even good, for the alfalfa but it can create an environmental risk. National 4-H Dairy Conference
October 2-5, 2017 in Madison, WI
One 4-H member between 15-18 years of age with receive the opportunity to attend the conference.
4-H members must have been enrolled in a dairy cow or dairy goat project for the past three years and currently have a dairy project.
Conference attendees will:
  • Meet new friends involved with dairy
  • Learn more about the dairy industry and dairy careers
  • Receive a $500 UNL CASNR scholarship
  • Receive a $500 Animal Science scholarship
