Joe Bouslaugh, Dan Schindler and Classic Dairy honored at NSDA Convention

Several honored at 2017 Nebraska State Dairy Association annual convention in February

Joe Bouslaugh, Retired from DFA
Joe Bouslaugh started as a Milk Hauler in February 1969. The Coop that was marketing milk when at that time was Nebraska/Iowa Supply, which then merged into Central States and then Mid America Dairymen.
After hauling milk for 16 years he went to work for Mid-Am Dairy in Omaha in the Farm and Chemical Supplies. He worked
Joe Bouslaugh picturein the Omaha area for 3 years and then transferred to Ellis, Kansas as a Field Representative, and worked in Kansas and South West Nebraska for 8 years.
In 1996 he was transfer to East Texas around the Sulphur Springs, Texas area and worked 5 years in East Texas. During that time Dairy Farmers of America was formed.
In 2001 he transferred back into Nebraska, coming home to work as a DFA field representative until his retirement in 2017.
He has worked on several Dairy Boards including the Midwest Dairy Association, Nebraska Division Board as an advisor position. He has been a leader on the Nebraska State Dairy Review Board, and the Nebraska Cooperative Council Board.
He is still on the Central Plains Dairy Expo Board, and also volunteers to be a part of the Central Plains Dairy Prayer Breakfast Committee.
During Joe’s life in the Dairy Industry, he has seen a lot of changes, and feels there will be a lot more changes in the future.



Dan Schindler, Automated Dairy Specialists
Dan Schindler started with BouMatic in 1981 as a District Sales Manager. His territory included Nebraska, Kansas, Iowa, South Dakota and North Dakota.
Dan Schindler pictureIn 1986 he accepted a position as sales manager with Dairy Automation, a newly established BouMatic Dealership, located in O’Neill NE. Dairy Automation relocated to Clearwater NE in 1990.
In 1996 Dan purchased the assets of Dairy Automation and formed Automated Dairy Services Inc.
From 1996 to 2015, Dan was the majority owner and president of Automated Dairy Services Inc.  During that time, he has been involved with countless projects from the smallest parlor remodel to new dairy facilities as large as 6000 cows. His expertise in the dairy industry has allowed him to service dairy farms spanning 3 generations.
 2016 has seen Dan moving away from the day to day operations of what is now called Automated Dairy Specialists, LLC., where he is a minority owner. However, he is actively engaged with current and future customers on new facility design and equipment sales
.

Classic Dairy
Dean Engelman and his brother, Gail, have owned and operated Classic Dairy in Jansen, Neb., for over two decades. The third-generation farming operation celebrated the 20th anniversary of their new facility in 2016. The Engelman family has established themselves as lClassic Dairy pictureeaders in the farming and dairy industry by continuing to find innovative ways to enhance operations
Classic Dairy is a shining example of a dairy farming family that has continued to innovate with an eye towards sustainability to ensure that the farm can be passed on to future generations—keeping the tradition and values of dairy farming alive and well in the state of Nebraska.
